✔️ How does Silverax Cream work?

It prevents and treats severe wound infections on skin areas with burns. It works by killing the bacteria and preventing its multiplication on the skin surface.

✔️ Side Effects of Silverax Cream

Temporary leukopenia, skin necrosis, erythema multiforme, skin discoloration, burning sensation, rashes, and interstitial nephritis may occur.

✔️ Quick Suggestions

• Cool down the burn immediately by placing it under running water or applying a cool and wet compress until the pain decreases.
• Remove any accessories like jewelry, belts, and tight clothing you are wearing since burns can swell quickly.
• Consider getting a tetanus shot.
• Avoid harsh products on your skin.
• Do not scratch or pick your skin to avoid getting the affected area infected.
• Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
• Do not walk barefoot at places like gym showers to prevent bacterial infections.

✔️ Indication of Silverax Cream

• Topical Prophylaxis: Prevents bacterial colonization and infection in burn sites.
• Antibacterial Therapy: Treats polluted or infection-prone lesions, apart from burns.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Mechanism: Silver Sulfadiazine causes structural changes in bacterial cell membranes, inhibiting cell growth and weakening the cell wall. The silver moiety binds to bacterial cells, preventing DNA replication and bacterial division.
• Absorption: Up to 10% of sulfadiazine may be absorbed in adults, with 60-85% eliminated in urine.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Silverax Cream

• Apply Silver Sulfadiazine to clean burn wounds, covering the area at all times.
• Reapply once or twice daily to a thickness of approximately 1/16 inches.
• Dressings may be used if necessary, and reapplication should follow hydrotherapy.

✔️ Interaction

• Enzymatic Debriding Agents: Silver Sulfadiazine can inactivate these agents, making their concomitant use unsafe.
• Oral Hypoglycemic Medications and Phenytoin: Monitoring of blood levels is recommended in patients with large-area burns.
• Cimetidine: Co-administration may increase the risk of leukopenia in patients with large-area burns.

✔️ Contraindications

• Avoid in patients hypersensitive to Silver Sulfadiazine or its components.
• Not recommended for pregnant women nearing term, preterm newborns, or infants in the first two months of life.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy should be justified, especially near term. Decision-making regarding breastfeeding should consider the value of the drug to the mother.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Monitor hepatic and renal function in patients with impaired clearance. Caution is advised when using topical proteolytic enzymes concurrently.
• Regular monitoring of serum sulfa concentrations and renal function is recommended in patients with extensive burns.
